Help Recruit Class 46 Candidates

   

We     have had a steady flow of applications since January, and we have six more     weeks until the phase one deadline. WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP recruiting     candidates! Applicants must be growers, farmers, ranchers or individuals     working in allied businesses and organizations who are emerging or     mid-career leaders in agriculture. The phase one application is due as soon     as possible, but no later than May 4.

Class 45 Returns from National Trip

   

Class     45 fellows arrived on the East Coast on March 4 for their national travel     seminar. During the trip, there were numerous high-impact moments that     provided meaningful leadership lessons. Check out their online travel blog     for photos and summaries of their experiences in Philadelphia, Gettysburg     and Washington, D.C. The fellows also posted photos via Instagram at     #CALF45NATL and #CALF45.

D.C. Exchange Interviews

   

D.C.     Exchange selection committee members were inside the Beltway on March 10     and 11, interviewing dozens of federal agency staff members for the August     program. They hosted an evening reception at USDA on March 11 for Class 45,     local D.C. Exchange alumni and other guests. The Illinois Agricultural     Leadership 2016 Class joined the event as well. The selection committee     included Karm Bains (40), Darlene Din (35), Melissa Duflock (40), Rob (35)     and Kelly Geis (35), Heidi Harris (43), Mica Heilmann (40), Chase Hurley     (35), Steve Knudsen (41) and John Weiler (22).

   
          

Agricultural & Government Leaders     Reception

   

California     government leaders, agricultural industry leaders, Ag Leadership alumni and     current program fellows enjoyed the annual Agricultural & Government     Leaders Reception in Sacramento on March 3. CDFA Secretary Karen Ross was     in attendance and addressed the group about current ag issues. As part of     the event, 197 pounds of fresh California produce was donated to the River     City Food Bank.

   
          

Save-the-Date for the All Class Reunion

   

The     All Class Reunion will be held at the Minkler Ranch April 24-26. The     schedule is as follows:

   

 

   

>Friday:     Guests may arrive as early as 12:30 p.m. Campfire at dusk and movie night     for the kids.

   

>Saturday:     Hay ride tour and "The Bug Lady" for kids to enjoy. Chili     cook off for the alumni - please let Emily know if your class is     participating. Hosted lunch served (chili, salad and cornbread). Bar opens     at 4 p.m. Hosted buffet dinner served, plus dancing into the night.

   

 

   

Please     bring your own food for meals that are not provided.

Dr. Peter Senge to Speak at Next L4     Seminar - Invitation

   

Save     the date! The next Life-Long Leadership Learning Seminar (L4) is scheduled     for April 22 at Cal Poly Pomona. The guest speaker is Dr. Peter Senge, a     senior lecturer in leadership and sustainability at the MIT Sloan School of     Management, founding chair of the Society for Organizational Learning and     author of the widely-acclaimed book “The Fifth Discipline: The Art and     Practice of The Learning Organization.”

Common Threads Fresno Award Celebration

   

CALF     congratulates the six women who will receive the 2015 Common Threads Award.     Common Threads Fresno recognizes women in the following counties: Fresno,     Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced, and Tulare. On March 26, an awards luncheon     honoring this year's recipients will be held on the California State     University, Fresno campus.

The     26th annual ILAC conference will be held Aug. 5-8, 2015 in Denver. The     conference connects friends, colleagues and agricultural leaders from all     over the world.
