IPM for Super Bowl Snacks

IPM for Super Bowl Snacks

With the Super Bowl coming up this weekend, you may be planning delicious snacks to enjoy while watching the game. We, on the other hand, are thinking about how IPM can help home gardeners with some of the fruits and vegetables they grow that might be enjoyed on Super Bowl Sunday.

Having tortilla chips with salsa, guacamole, or 7-layer bean dip? Be sure to check out resources for growing corn, tomato, avocado, green onion, and beans. If you're making spinach and artichoke dip, our spinach page and artichoke page has helpful information on how to manage pests of these vegetables. Other popular game day snacks might be potato chips, loaded potato skins, or tater tots. Or you might be making some kind of dip served with a vegetable platter of carrots, cauliflower, peppers, and broccoli.

Whatever you're snacking on this weekend, and whether you're watching the game or not, be sure to check out UC IPM's pest management resource for vegetables. Looking for more information on growing vegetables? Contact your local UC Master Gardener program.
