4-H Alpaca and Horticulture Farm Day
Date: June 22, 2019
Time: 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Sponsor: UC Ag and Natural Resources Ventura County
Location: Alpacas of Windy Hill
Looking for an informative farm day to learn about alpacas? Want to learn more about edible plants in nature? Mark your calendar for June 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to join me and my friend Nadja at Alpacas of Windy Hill in Somis. We are hosting a special farm day for 4-H as part of our Emerald Star Projects.
Alpacas are wonderful animals that are known for their fleece. The Alpaca Farm Day will have several interactive stations where you can learn about alpacas, their history, breeding, care and showmanship. There will also be a station to learn about alpaca fleece and see how their fiber is turned into yarn. This farm day will give you an opportunity to interact with an alpaca and kick-off the 4-H Alpaca Project for the 2019-2020 year.
Also included in the farm day are interactive stations to learn horticulture, take a plant identification quiz and learn about composting. We are also offering a community service activity and most importantly, an enjoyable day with your family. Bring a picnic lunch and get ready for some 4-H fun!
