Floriculture & Nursery
The mission of the floriculture and nursery program is to assist in the development of the local wholesale production industries, while minimizing the effects of these industries to our environment. Ongoing field research include the development of pest management programs which reduce the use of pesticides and incorporate "environmentally-friendly" pest management strategies; developing crop management systems for growers which utilize less water and contribute less nitrogen and pesticide runoff; and postharvest handling systems of cut flowers.
