Ecologically-Based Invasive Plant Management Field School & Learning Fair

Jul 18, 2012

In conjunction with the USDA Range Management group out of Oregon and many Weed Scientists throughout the western US, a two day field school will focus on improving the management and threat of invasive plants, and especially cheatgrass and medusahead. The 2012 EBIPM (Ecologically-Based Invasive Plant Management) Field School and Learning Fair will be held on August 28th and 29th at the Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno, Nevada. The team of instructors will take participants into the field to learn-by-doing with hands-on activities at sites while demonstrating the principles of the EBIPM framework. You’ll gain the knowledge and experience to get out of the never-ending cycle of treating the symptoms (invasive weeds) and start using the principles and strategies to repair the underlying problems that cause these invasions and degradation of our rangelands. You’ll learn how to achieve more successful and sustainable management by implementing ecologically-based invasive plant management.

For more information and to register, visit www.ebipm.org/map/2012-ebipm-field-school-learning-fair and download the registration form (PDF). If you have any questions, contact Brenda Smith at Brenda.smith@ars.usda.gov or call (541) 573-4084.  This is a great time to be in Reno for a little R & R following the Field School, we have special rates at our host hotel, John Ascuagas Nugget.
