Samuel Grossberger Has Passed - An Important Proponent of the Cherimoya

Samuel was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia, the eldest of five siblings. He graduated medical school in Cochabamba and married Carmela Morales. They had two children, Lucia and Dario. Samuel moved his family to the United States, settling in California in 1959. He remained married to Carmela and was naturalized as a US citizen. He practiced in his clinic in Van Nuys for over forty years where he gained the love and trust of thousands of patients which he treated for generations. He also devoted himself to his avocation of fruit trees, primarily cherimoya. He believed in cherimoya before a demand existed, and was key in developing this fruit in the US market. Samuel remained very attached to his family in Bolivia. He bought land there and established a business there which would take him there regularly for many years. He experienced a long life of success and always helped those around him. Everyone knew him as the most generous person, always giving whatever he had to give. He passed surrounded by those who loved him. He is survived by his wife, children, and his two sisters.
