ANNOUNCEMENT for four GS-0401-11/12 Integrated Pest Management and Invasive Species Coordinator positions with the National Wildlife Refuge System in the Western United States. Two of the four positions are here in Region 8 (CA and NV): 

  • IPM Coordinator - duty station: Klamath Basin NWRC
  • Invasive Species Coordinator - potential duty stations: Pacific Southwest Regional Office – Sacramento, CA; San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge Complex Headquarters – Newark, CA; San Diego National Wildlife Refuge Complex Headquarters, Chula Vista CA; Desert National Wildlife Refuge Complex Headquarters, Las Vegas NV.

The four vacancies will be filled in these listed locations:

  • Vacancy #1:The Natural Resources Specialist —stationed in either Sacramento, CA; Fremont, CA; Chula Vista, CA; or Las Vegas, NV— will serve as the Invasive Species Coordinator for national wildlife refuges in California, Nevada, and the Klamath Basin in Oregon. The incumbent will work closely with refuge staff and a variety of partners to promote a strategic and adaptive approach to invasive species management on national wildlife refuge lands and waters.
  • Vacancy #2:The Natural Resource Specialist —stationed at Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge Complex in Tulelake, CA— will serve as the Integrated Pest Management Specialist and Farming Program Manager for the Complex. The incumbent will oversee the Complex IPM program, coordinate farming on Refuge lands with local producers, and serve the Regional Pesticide Use Proposal Coordinator. The Klamath Basin is situated between the Cascade Range and Great Basin sage steppe, offering abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation and an affordable cost of living.
  • Vacancy #3:The Natural Resources Specialist —stationed in Portland, OR— will serve as the Invasive Species Coordinator and Integrated Pest Management Coordinator for the Columbia-Pacific Northwest and Pacific Islands Regions which includes Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa, and U.S. Minor Outlying Islands. The incumbent will work closely with regional and refuge staff and a variety of partners to promote a strategic and adaptive approach to invasive species management on national wildlife refuge lands and waters.
  • Vacancy #4:The Natural Resources Specialist —stationed in one of the following locations: Great Falls, MT; Lewistown, MT; Pingree, ND; or Coleharbor, ND —will serve as the Invasive Species Coordinator for the Interior Regions 5 & 7 which includes Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming. The incumbent will work closely with refuge staff and a variety of partners to promote a strategic and adaptive approach to invasive species management on national wildlife refuge lands and waters.
