Assistant Environmental Scientist/Engineer Job Opening

Summary: We currently have up to 3 temporary non-exempt, non-benefited part- or fulltime positions open.  The work is water quality sampling for herbicides, data analysis and interpretation.  A significant amount of field work will be involved, requiring between 30-60 days of out of town travel in the Tahoe area. Start date is late April 2022 and goes through late June or July, 2022.  Lodging and meals are included in the position.

Scope: Perform boat launching and recovery, water quality measurement and sampling equipment calibration and use, sample shipping and interaction with analytical laboratory, review and analyze data and prepares reports, and other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, background and experience sought:  Degree or degree in progress in civil or environmental engineering, hydrology, water resources, environmental toxicology, or related field. Strong mechanical aptitude and interest and willingness to work outdoors is required. Must be able to comfortably enter and exit boats, work around water, and lift coolers of up to 30 pounds. Attention to detail is a must.

Certificates and Licenses: Valid and clean CDL required; CDBW boater card and First Aid/CPR certification a plus.

Compensation: $20-$30/hour depending on experience.
