Organic growers must go through certification and registration processes before selling produce marketed as organic. These processes help ensure the produce meets organic standards and requirements.
Production of organic crops is largely market-driven. As demand for organic produces increases so to will the amount of growers and acreage committed to meeting consumer demand. Organic agricultural operations have additional needs for planning, production, and marketing.
