California Small Farm Conference
Registration is now open for the California Small Farm Conference - the state's premier gathering for small-scale farmers and ranchers, farm employees, farmers' market managers, researchers, federal and state agriculture agencies, agriculture students, food policy advocates, consumers and others. The goal of the Conference is to promote the success and viability of small and family owned farming operations and farmers markets through short courses, field tours and workshops.
This year's California Small Farm Conference (CSFC), featuring opening plenary speaker, A.G. Kawamura, will be held at the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley in southern California on March 7 - 10, 2015.

Orchid and Rose Growing Home Garden Workshop in August
The Master Gardeners of Ventura County will host one of their seasonal home-garden workshops in August. This workshop will focus on "Growing Enviable Orchids and Roses," and will include a continental breakfast, snacks and a docent-guided tour of the Faulkner home.
Gardening experts will guide orchid and rose enthusiasts with techniques to turn their blooms into showcase beauties.
The Master Gardeners love to share their expertise and love of gardening. Workshops are held on Saturdays so more members of the public can participate.

Making the most of pollinators in the orchard
A new publication, "How to Attract and Maintain Pollinators in Your Garden," (Publication 8498) has been added UC Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) catalog. The document is a collaboration of UC experts which includes an entomologist, laboratory assistants, landscape designer, photographer, and pomology expert.
Pollination is crucial to the survival of much of our ecosystems and maintaining viable environments for them to thrive provides not only benefits to personal outdoor space, but adds to the well being of the community at large.
This publication focuses on ways to make your garden and outdoor environment, including avocado orchards more attractive to pollinators by identifying pollinators and the plants and landscaping practices that appeal to them.
